Dear friend,

I hope this letter finds you well. Today I wanted to write to you about something that has been on my mind lately...

About text to handwriting

Type or paste your text, pick one of three handwriting fonts, choose lined, blank or grid paper, set the ink to any color with the color picker and adjust the size between 14 and 32 pixels. The preview updates as you go, and Download PNG saves it as an image at twice the size it has on your screen. The fonts are Caveat, a casual handwriting family by Pablo Impallari; Indie Flower, with bubbly, rounded letters; and Satisfy, a brush script. They load from Google Fonts, and the image itself is drawn in your browser. Line breaks and blank lines in your text are kept, so a letter keeps its greeting, paragraphs and sign-off. It is still a font, not a copy of your own hand. Caveat swaps in slightly different letter shapes depending on where a letter falls in a word, but the ink is one flat color and the lines are perfectly straight. That works well for cards, place names, classroom worksheets, planners and social posts. Long texts don't split into pages; the preview simply grows taller.

Frequently asked questions

Will it ever look really hand-written?

At a glance, yes. Look closely and it is clearly a font: repeated letters look alike, the baseline is straight and the ink never fades or blots. Caveat comes closest, thanks to its varying letter shapes.

Can I pick the pen color?

Yes, any color. The ink control is a full color picker, and it starts on a dark navy (#1a237e) that looks like ballpoint ink. The paper comes in three styles: lined with light blue rules, plain cream, or a light blue grid.

Can I use my own handwriting?

No, only the three fonts are available. Turning your own writing into a font takes a font-making service where you fill in a printed template by hand and scan it.

What size is the PNG?

Twice the size of the preview on your screen. If the preview is 500 pixels wide, the image is 1,000 pixels wide, so for a sharper print make the browser window wider before you download.
