About lorem ipsum
Choose paragraphs, sentences, words or bytes, set how many you need and copy the result. A paragraph is four sentences, and a sentence is twelve words, starting with a capital letter and ending with a full stop. Bytes gives an exact number of characters, which is handy for testing a field with a length limit. The number box goes up to 5,000. Everything comes from the standard passage that begins Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet and ends id est laborum, 69 words in a fixed order. The generator walks through that list and starts over when it runs out, so the same settings always produce the same text. That makes it easy to regenerate a mockup and get an identical result. The passage is scrambled Latin from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of De finibus bonorum et malorum, which Cicero wrote in 45 BC. Words were cut short and changed along the way, so it doesn't mean anything. The version designers know today spread through Letraset transfer sheets, first published in 1966.

What's the difference between words and bytes?
Words gives whole words separated by single spaces. Bytes cuts the passage at an exact number of characters, even in the middle of a word, so 100 bytes is always exactly 100 characters. Every character in the output is plain ASCII, which is why one character equals one byte.
