Change Text Case
Convert text to uppercase, lowercase, title case, sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, and more.
About the case converter
Type or paste text, pick a case from the menu and copy the result. There are eight: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case and kebab-case. The first four keep your spacing and punctuation. The last four are meant for code, file names and URLs, so they drop punctuation and join the words. Title Case capitalizes the first letter of every word, short words included, and lowercases the rest. That means NASA becomes Nasa and iPhone becomes Iphone, so check brand names afterwards. A letter after an apostrophe stays small, which keeps don't from turning into Don'T. Sentence case lowercases everything, then capitalizes the first letter of the text and the first letter after each full stop, question mark or exclamation mark. Names and the word I come out lowercase. For the code styles the text is split at every character that isn't a letter or digit. camelCase capitalizes each word after the first (userProfileImage), PascalCase capitalizes all of them (UserProfileImage), snake_case joins lowercase words with underscores (user_profile_image) and kebab-case uses hyphens (user-profile-image). In snake_case and kebab-case an & becomes the word and. Accents are dropped in all four, so Café Menu turns into cafe_menu.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between title case and sentence case?
Title case gives every word a capital: How To Write A Blog Post. Sentence case only capitalizes the first word of each sentence: How to write a blog post. The Google developer documentation style guide, for one, asks for sentence case in titles and headings, while book titles are traditionally set in title case.
Is title case the same in every style guide?
No. AP, Chicago and APA each have their own rules for which short words stay lowercase, such as a, of and the, and they don't fully agree. This converter doesn't follow any of them; it capitalizes every word. For a strict house style, convert first and then lowercase the small words your guide lists.
Why did my camelCase input lose its capitals?
Each word is lowercased before capitals are added back at word boundaries, and a boundary is a space or punctuation mark. So userProfile image comes out as userprofileImage. Put spaces between the words first (user profile image) to get userProfileImage.
Does it change numbers or emoji?
Upper, lower, title and sentence case leave digits, emoji and symbols where they are. The four code styles keep only letters and digits, so emoji and symbols disappear and act as word breaks.
